I have a window…

Spreads it’s memories on forgotten past memories…
Broked the calm of the moment.
And came a “Blue Passion” from it’s chest.

The English version of the poetry collection “Blue Passion” by poet Sheikha Afrah Al Mubarak Al Sabah was published by Al Farasha Publishing and Distribution House. The translation was done by Interlingual Translation and Linguistic Consulting Company, founded by Safia Al Khatib. On this occasion, Al Sabah said in the context of her talk about the translation of her poetry collection: Translating poetry into English helps convey ideas, feelings and culture from the original language to another language,

where people who do not speak Arabic can enjoy and appreciate the beauty and depth of Arabic poetry, in addition to enhancing cultural communication between languages. Translation also contributes to the exchange of experiences and knowledge. By translating poetry into English, foreign readers can benefit from new experiences and horizons offered by other world cultures, which contributes to the exchange of knowledge and continuous learning.

Al-Sabah explained by saying: Translation plays a vital and important role in communicating with peoples and not closing themselves off to one particular culture, which contributes to enriching the global cultural arena and renewing its vitality and breadth of spread. This made me turn to translating my latest collection, so that it can be read by another audience that speaks a different language, and this in itself is beneficial for all parties.

It is worth noting that the Blue Passion collection consists of twenty poems with different titles and meanings inspired by nature and the sea. As for the topics of her poems, they always focus on the contents and subject of loss, nostalgia for the past, and deprivation of beautiful memories of dear people who hold a great place in the soul, such as the father and mother,

which shaped the character of Afrah Al-Mubarak in this collection. The poet also mentioned in her collection places and longing for them, nature and the beauty and longing it carries. The collection is distinguished by containing a group of paintings by the artist Dima Al-Ghanim.
